Special Educational Needs

A child or young person has Special Educational Needs (SEN) if they have a learning difficulty or disability which requires special educational provision to be made for them.

The SENCo at St Joseph's is Miss North.  Contact through:  admin@st-josephspri.essex.sch.uk or through the MyEd app.

Intention

At St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, our intention for all children is that they receive a high quality and ambitious education regardless of need or disability.

Implementation

At St Joseph's, every teacher is a teacher of SEND.  Our rich, broad, balanced curriculum offers children a wealth of experiences and ensures that pupils with SEND are included in all aspects of the school day.  In addition to this, some children may need additional support within the classroom, learning to be personalised to their ability or support from outside agencies such as the Speech and Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists.

Impact

Children at St Joseph's feel happy, safe and respected.  Children with SEND  make good progress and are prepared for the next stage of their education through careful tracking of individual targets, academic attainment and developing increased levels of independence.
