School Business Manager
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a new member to our fantastic office team, as School Business Manager (SBM) at St Francis Catholic Primary School, Maldon. Looking to appoint as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition before the existing SBM leaves at the end of December.
Job Description
Hours: 17 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9.00am to 4.00pm Mon and Weds with 1/2 hour lunch and 9.00am to 1pm on Fridays) term time + INSET days + 2 weeks
We are seeking to appoint a forward-thinking School Business Manager, who will work as part of our team and can:
- provide high quality strategic leadership on business functions within the school, including financial planning, stakeholder management and resource allocation in support of the school's vision, aims and objectives
- provide professional leadership and management of business support staff (office and premises team) to enhance their performance
- lead on the effective and efficient delivery of business support services across the school
- be proactive in developing new systems, manage multiple projects and ensure the school is compliant with legislation and internal policies.
This is a strategic leadership position which requires an excellent knowledge of school finance systems and management of the school budget including finance reporting to the LA, Headteacher and Governors. You will need to have an excellent understanding of HR, payroll and Health & Safety (including Premises). The post holder will be responsible for leading the office team, site staff and some support staff so strong interpersonal and leadership skills are essential.
The successful candidate will need to be proficient in data management systems such as FMS and SIMS and have a good knowledge of MS Office software.
Main areas of responsibilities will include:
Lead and manage strategic vision and leadership in all aspects of budget, finance and premises to SLT and Governors
Prepare the annual budget, monitor the budget and provide monthly finance reports to SLT and Governors
Complete and submit all financial statutory returns
Support the Headteacher with all Health & Safety matters within the school
Manage the school's contracts and premises; overseeing maintenance and improvement programmes
Responsible for HR functions within the school including recruitment and payroll
Line manage office and premises staff
Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged.
Any appointment is subject to enhanced DBS disclosure, medical clearance and satisfactory references.
Salary Details
Scale 8, Point 25-28 (FTE £33,945-£36,648)*
Actual Salary £14,028.94-£15,146.05*
* Pending annual pay award which will be backdated to start date.
