Overview
An opportunity has arisen for the position of an Administrative Assistant at St Francis Catholic Primary School in Maldon, CM9 6HN. The position is part time for 21 hours per week, working on a Monday and Wednesday 9:00am to 12.00pm and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am-3.00pm for 38 weeks including holiday pay
The successful candidate will work within a small team under the direction of the School Business Manager and will need to be a reliable and flexible team player able to contribute to the smooth running of the school.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a school environment and a working knowledge of SIMS and IRIS (previously known as My Ed) is highly desirable. IT skills are essential. The individual must be organised, whilst understanding the need for tasks to be put aside when something needing more immediate attention arises. The individual must be able to work calmly under pressure.

Hours: 21 hours per week: Monday and Wednesday (9.00am to 12.00pm) and Tues, Thu and Fri (9.00 am - 3.00pm with 1 hour lunch) term time only.
We are seeking a friendly, positive, efficient, and well-organised Administrative Assistant to assist with the admin in our busy school office. The role involves a variety of reception and administration duties. The successful candidate must have a high standard of written and spoken English as well as good numeracy skills and be able to use a range of IT software.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player, working in partnership with the office team, and be able to work calmly and accurately under pressure. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with parents, children and colleagues in a positive and helpful way. Coupled with this you should be organised, methodical and have an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office. You will need to manage sensitive situations with empathy, tact and diplomacy, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
In this role, you would be:
* Acting as a first point of contact, meeting and greeting pupils, parents and other visitors, and dealing with enquiries in person, by phone or email;
* Helping with the organisational and administrative aspects of school life;
* Helping with first aid, medication and medical plans for pupils.
* Helping to manage attendance.
* Helping with the collection and banking of payments.
* Helping to organise trips.
*To undertake the administration of the school Breakfast Club.
* Helping with administration of pupils arriving and leaving the school.
The successful candidate will have:
* Ideally previous experience of working in a school office but training can be given.
* A friendly and helpful manner, promoting a positive image of the school at all times.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* The ability to deal with pupils, parents and staff with warmth and professionalism.
* Have excellent ICT skills including Word, Excel and Publisher.
* Experienced in the use of SIMS and Parentpay but training can be given.
* Good organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
* Educated to at least GCSE Maths and English level 4/5 (Grade C) or above.
* Enthusiasm for working in a busy school environment and getting involved in the wider aspects of school life.

Scale 3, Point 5-6 (FTE £23,500-£23,893)*
Actual Salary £11,127.66-£11,313.75*
